Many Spanish People consider it as a national treasure.

Pedro Romero and Ordonez are the most famous bullfighters of Spain. They are the representatives of the two classic “schools” of bullfighting. First, the Ronda school which is a simpler, more sober approach, and second corrida which more flamboyant style popular in Seville.

Antonio Ordonez was born in Ronda and appeared in the bullring at the age of19. In came face to face with 1000 bulls in his glittering career. He fought 60 fights in 1968 alone before retiring.

Pedro Romero killed 5600 bulls during his career spanned over 28 years. He popularized the use of estoque, the sword used in the kill, and the red flannel cloth muleta used in the bullfight’s final act. He was famous for executing recibiendo, the dangerous, dramatic methods of killing the bull.

The Corridas Goyescas are Ronda's most celebrated bullfights which take place in September in the Real Maestranza bullring. Prior to the bullfight, there is a procession of horse-drawn carriages that goes around the streets of Ronda. Everyone including the matadors comes dressed in 18th-century traditional Goyesque costumes. The matadors also come in traditional dress.
